Our webinar last week, on the 16th of September 2025, with the Swiss Ambassador to China, Jürg Burri, provided a comprehensive assessment of the current dynamics shaping Swiss-Chinese economic relations.
He emphasized China’s significance not only as one of the world’s largest markets but also as a country with strong ambitions in research, technology and industrial development. At the same time, he noted that these opportunities are accompanied by regulatory and structural challenges that require careful consideration by Swiss companies.
The modernization of the Free Trade Agreement was highlighted as an important priority for China, In the broader global context, the Ambassador also referred to ongoing shifts in international economic relations, noting that these developments call for adaptable strategies of companies to ensure continued access to key markets worldwide.
In addition, participants addressed perspectives beyond the established S-GE’s business hubs of Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong, with attention to the economic potential emerging in China’s interior regions.
We extend our sincere thanks to Ambassador Burri for his impressive and clear presentation. The webinar, including the subsequent discussion, offered our participants valuable insights and guidance on how Swiss companies can position themselves effectively in an evolving and complex environment.
