The Incoterms® Rules are published by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in Paris and are regularly updated.

The Incoterms® Rules (International Commercial Terms) are a set of international Rules defining specific trade terms in foreign commerce. They state the responsibilities of buyers and sellers, especially for cross-border transactions, and provide the parties with an internationally consistent interpretation of their obligations, thus helping to avoid misunderstandings and litigation.

The success story of the Incoterms® Rules began when they were first published in 1936. They were last updated by a team of experts and practitioners in 2010 and will be revised again in 2019.

Accreditation system

Accreditation system for the organisation of official seminars on Incoterms® 2010

Incoterms® is a registered trademark of ICC to protect the intellectual property rights contained in this resource.

To guarantee the quality of official courses about Incoterms® 2010, an accreditation system was introduced. Seminars or courses on Incoterms® may only be held by approved coaches. The accreditation is given by the national ICC chapter.

In Switzerland, the accreditation system is managed by ICC Switzerland in collaboration with the Swiss Shippers’ Council. Potential coaches must first complete the courses at ICC headquarters in Paris and are then registered with the ICC office as ICC-approved trainers.

If you are interested in organising an Incoterms® seminar, please contact ICC Switzerland. Provided that the accreditation requirements are fulfilled, your event will be published on the official Swiss Incoterms® 2010 website. Non-accredited courses are not published on the Incoterms® website.
